Waste Disposal firm left rubbish on lane....

A Mansfield man failed to check the details of a rubbish disposal firm, he trusted the disposal of rubbish including wood and household waste to a local company.

It was later found dumped on a nearby lane, along with personal correspondence containing his name and address.

The Mansfield man admitted failing to comply with the householder's duty of care to ensure that waste is disposed of lawfully.

Magistrates imposed a £250 fine, plus £200 costs, and he was also ordered to pay £15 victirm surcharge.

To ensure compliance with the law, householders must ensure that any private individuals or fims collecting waste are authorised by the Environment Agency www.environment-agency.gov.uk

'Fly-tippers are causing choas on our streets'

A Fed-up Teverasl businessman is urging council chiefs to get tough on lazy fly-tippers dumping rubbish through out the village.

The Pleasley Road resisdent, who does not want to be named, says lorry loads of waste are being left on Teversal's country roads as well as in neighbouring Skegby and Pleasley.

In the latest incident last Tuesday, traffic was bought to a stand still on Baxter Hill after a pile of rubbish was left strewn across the road creating long delays for motorists.

"Drivers were having to get out their cars to try and clear the road and this type of thing is happening more and more over the past year," he said.

The man said the recent economic down turn has contributed to the problem with folk willing to pay rogue refuse collectors to git rid of their waste.

"It is up to the public to take the registration numbers of those responsible and repot them to the authorities immediately-these people are a law unto themselves.
